Ski & Rock specialize in activity holidays during both summer and winter. These holidays offer outdoor activities during the day and easy to learn social dancing in the evenings. Initially, the holidays combined skiing with modern Jive & Salsa. Since then other activities and dance styles have been added with our season running throughout the year. You can choose to take part in these activities or just relax. Our aim is to help you enjoy your holiday and if you wish, improve your dancing and sport abilities in a relaxed inclusive holiday environment.
Ski and Rock was formed in 1996 by Peter Kershaw. Peter is experienced in a variety of outdoor activities and has acted as a coach for both skiing and sky diving. He has been involved with modern Jive & Salsa for many years and has helped at various dance venues, including the teaching of beginners. He now runs a West Coast Swing dance night in Poynton near Stockport Cheshire.
Modern Jive also known as Ceroc or LeRoc must be the easiest dance to learn. Beginners and relatively new dancers will be given simple basic lessons. Footwork although helpful later on, is not important to begin with. Having two left feet is no bar at all! Partners are not necessary, as we all change partners throughout the evening. Experienced dancers and instructors will be out there to help you gain confidence. Professional dance instructors provide lessons, for both beginner and improver dancers. Some of our holidays include Swing, Salsa, Cha-cha and Tango.
Ski and Rock pride themselves in organizing half board and all inclusive holidays where everyone is made welcome and there are no hidden extra costs. Our holidays are run in a way to make sure that everyone gains the greatest enjoyment possible. Coaching is provided both for the daytime activities as well as for the evening dancing by our enthusiastic and friendly instructors. Social dancing takes place for the remainder of the evening after the lessons. Day and evening excursions are sometimes offered, with dancing either in the restaurant or a local bar. As we reach the end of the holiday we round things off with our farewell themed party night.
